En un partido muy disputado, La Dolfina Tamera super\u00f3 a Coca Cola por 11-10, y se adjudic\u00f3 la CV Whitney Cup, el primer escal\u00f3n de The Gauntlet of Polo, cuya final se desarroll\u00f3 el domingo 23 de febrero<\/strong> en el National Polo Center, en Wellington Florida, Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n

Tras el 2-2 del primer chukker, La Dolfina Tamera marc\u00f3 cuatro goles consecutivos para ponerse arriba por 6-2 en el segundo parcial. La respuesta de Coca Cola no se hizo esperar, ya que ganaron el tercer chukker 3-0 para quedar un gol abajo en el half time (5-6). Tras el descanso largo, el partido tuvo un nuevo empate (7-7) en el cuarto chukker, pero La Dolfina Tamera, comandados por su dupla goleadora, Adolfo Cambiaso (4) y Diego Cavanagh (7), comenz\u00f3 a cerrar el asunto en el quinto chukker – 3-0 parcial que en el tablero marcaba 10-7 a favor del equipo de Alejandro Poma. Pero Gillian Johnston y sus chicos no pensaban bajar los brazos, como se vio en un dur\u00edsimo sexto chukker; Coca Cola sali\u00f3 con todo a dar vuelta el resultado, y si bien ganaron el chukker 3-1, el esfuerzo no fue suficiente para alcanzar la victoria y el t\u00edtulo. que se llev\u00f3 finalmente La Dolfina Tamera.<\/p>\n

La CV Whitney Cup, originariamente denominada US Handicap Cup, comenz\u00f3 a jugarse en 1979, con handicap en conjunto con el US Open. En 1988 cambi\u00f3 su nombre por CV Whitney Cup, en tributo a Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney, que lleg\u00f3 a los 6 goles y quien fuera ganador tres veces del US Open (1928, 1937, 1938), y era el hijo del 10 goles y miembro del Hall of Fame Harry Payne Whitney.
